“I started photography because I wanted to do something artistic, creative, and personally gratifying that would also impact and elevate others.”

Originally from Michigan, I reside in Kingsport, Tennessee, with my husband Lonnie L. Salyer, a vinyl record collector and historian.  We have two adult children— Barbara (30), a beauty entrepreneur and licensed esthetician living in Nashville, and Cody (25) who is a veteran Marine also living in Kingsport.  I have recently been promoted to "Lotta" - my precious grandson, Jadon, was born November 4th, 2021. Draven (2), our Blue and Tan Frenchie puppy is the latest addition to the family. (I can’t wait to get him a little brother.)

Fun Facts

I have authored two books, Startup Savvy: Strategies for Optimizing Small Business Survival and Success, and Superwoman Smarts: Activating Leadership and Substance.

A great adventure always draws me in –especially when it includes unplanned weekend road trips, tacos, and margaritas. I have done things that scare most people — like skydiving. In addition to being a civilian passenger on a Blackhawk military helicopter, I’ve jumped out of a perfectly fine airplane at 13,000 feet! I competed in my first bodybuilding competition at age 50. As a first-time contender, I placed 3rd in the Bikini Masters 45+ and 5th in Overall True Novice.

Ballroom dancing is one of my favorite pastimes. It might surprise you to learn that I am a mirror ball winner - winning the People’s Choice Award during the 2014 Dancing with the Tri-Cities Stars. The best part was having the opportunity to wear actual dresses from the popular TV show. Together with nine other celebrity dancers, I helped raise $100,000 to benefit SteppenStone Youth Treatment Services.

Last year I made the decision to replace my gasoline-powered vehicle with an EV (electric vehicle). So far, I have driven 8,000 miles in a 100% electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, which I named Kasper. I have never owned a Ford before going electric. There is an EV out there for everyone, and I’ve never had more fun driving — whether it is a long or short trip.

I’m a certified (Forks Over Knives) whole-food, plant-based chef, but I’m not 100% vegan all the time –forgive me, I can’t turn down a good taco here and there.
